Just arrived at the airport exhausted as usual. Collect car and head off “home”. That first thrill of arriving and going to our villa never wears off. We stop at Publix on the way to pick up our groceries for the next few days, tea, coffee, milk etc. Sort our selves out and relax until American time bedtime (around 3am to us).
Day 1
Wake ridiculously early – still on UK time. However, nice to be up early for our first day of our “holiday”. What to do! Shall we go to a theme park, shall we go to Downtown Disney for a browse, shall we……… no hang on, this is villa owner’s vacation. Lets start that again.
Day 1
Wake ridiculously early – still on UK time. Have breakfast by pool, the sunshine is glorious (a million miles away from British weather). Right, now, head into villa to check every single, sheet, pillow case, towel, wash cloth and pillow. Throw out all that are not up to standard and start list of things to replace. Pillows all replaced every year, and usually a few towels or sheets are stained or starting to wear out. This takes until at least lunch time – sometimes longer.
Quick sandwich.
Go through all kitchen ware to check if any needs replacing – there’s always something - add to list. Check all house wares for damage or wear and add to list if any need replacing. Check all games and jigsaws to check for missing pieces and replace if necessary.
Dinner out and home to bed
Day 2
Jet wash pool area, the pool screen supports and the front drive
Quick lunch
Jet wash all pool furniture
Day 3 & 4
Spring Clean entire villa
Day 5 & 6
Shop for all replacement items and new items we have decided to add
Day 7, 8, 9, 10
Decorate the rooms that need it (This year 3 rooms). Bought wallpaper over from UK as cheaper there, but have you ever tried to buy a pasting table in Florida. “A what? ” they say. You explain. “Oh we never do that, we paint – it’s quicker”
Day 11
Install all new TVs due to change over to digital in the US. Decided to upgrade to home theatre with surround sound – whole afternoon to install
Day 12
Tidy up garden, area around pool deck, buy new plants and replace old ones
Day 13
DAY OFF – YAY! ! Going to Disney World for quick look round and over to Epcot to see the fireworks – never miss them.
Day 14
Oh no – home and we only had one day at Disney!
