Florida Guide > Dining
Wandering around downtown Disney and unsure of where to eat, we tried the Splitsville diner, great food service and live music to enjoy as we watched the world go by.
We ate here with our two teenage children one evening, both outside and inside seating was available, although quite warm we chose to sit outside, near two large fans, which gave a nice gentle breeze and a break from the heat. We were able to choose our own table, and decided upon one around the side away from the live music, which although was good, was
a little too loud to allow for chit chat over tea, especially as one of our daughters is deaf and struggles with background noise.
Inside was good too, plenty of booths and cool with the air con. We chose our drinks and the server brought them swiftly to us, would have like the beer in a glass, but everything outside, except for my wine came in plastic tumblers. The server was very attentive, helping us to choose menu items as my youngest wanted to try Sushi, my other daughter is Gluten free, but the suitable dishes were all marked as safe for her.
She settled on a pizza, which she said was one of the best Gluten free pizzas she had ever eaten! My husband went for the pulled pork sandwich, which was ample in size and I had a club sandwich and also enjoyed some of the sushi, which was lovely served with soy sauce, wasabi paste and ginger. The food was hot and well cooked, very tasty and as usual in true American style, huge portions, just delicious.
The whole place had a nice relaxing, unhurried feel about it, we enjoyed our drinks, watching folk pass by and listened to the music, which took me and the hubby back a few years! Our measure of a place is usually on a “will we come back basis” Yes we will, but next time maybe to have a game of bowling or two as well, as what we didn’t realize at first is that there is a huge bowling alley inside.
The place seems to also offer many special offers, bowling for $7 on an evening with shoe hire, starts at 10pm, which might be a little late for some with younger children, but for us it would be a safe later night treat.
