Florida Guide > Shopping

Follow the ramp down in to the lower portion of the shop and the experience continues!

At the bottom of the ramp you can browse the store’s selection of Demdaco Willowtree figurines. Here you can also find evening bags, embroidered and beaded wraps and fancy hair accessories for a night on the town! Here there is also a selection of slightly more expensive costume jewellery.

There is an appealing baby section, clearly divided in to pink for girl and blue for a boy, where you can choose from photograph frames, memory boxes, brush and comb sets and money boxes to name but a few. Why not consider the DIY kit that will cast your chosen infants hand or footprints in bronze? Each gift is very individual in design and there is also a small choice if you are buying for twins. You can also find a limited selection of books and wooden toys, not usually of the kind found in the local toy and bookstores.

The Christmas section which features all year round stocks just about everything! For us the highlight is the large tree decorated with hand painted baubles expressing sentiments for every occasion; baby on the way, new baby, new parents / grandparents, new home, graduation, christening, wedding, or simply just Christmas, the list is endless, virtually every possible sentiment is covered!

In a small annexe at the rear of the store the remainder of the Christmas merchandise is displayed and it would be difficult not to find exactly what you were looking for – though a word of warning; there is nothing featuring “the mouse” or any of his friends, in fact the whole store is a mouse free zone!

When you think you have selected all that your purse and luggage allowance will permit make your way to the cash register but be warned, a whole additional selection of goodies awaits you there; reading glasses with colourful and funky frames, luggage tags with slogans to suit your personality, clever clips to make finding your keys in your handbag easy, fancy pulls for ceiling fans and novelty pens and pencils. This trip there were some Hessian bags with sequinned pictures which we had not seen before.

No two trips to the Market Street Gallery are ever the same; you may be disappointed if you return for something you didn’t buy on your last trip. The merchandise changes according to the seasons and celebrations such as Fathers Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving and 4th July.

Allow yourself plenty of time to explore the delights of this one of a kind store. Leave the men on the rocking chairs at the edge of the lake……. . they will only complain!
